Artemisia annua is a powerful plant extract from the annual mugwort. The herbaceous plant originates from China, more precisely from the mountainous provinces of Chahar and Suiyuan. Here it is known as "Quinghao" and has been cultivated by people for thousands of years in order to make use of its numerous properties. However, the annual mugwort has only become particularly well-known in recent years due to its main active ingredient artemisinin. The Chinese researcher Youyou Tu was even awarded the Nobel Prize in 2015 for rediscovering and extracting the plant's valuable ingredient.
